In 2020 trees are a protected species, and paper and cardboard are luxury articles. Packaging is mostly made out of multi-use composite material. PuzzlePack is a reusable packaging system for postal deliveries consisting of light panels with a electro-active polymer lining (artificial muscles). The panels are adjustable to individual needs, and different sizes of packaging can be constructed. When two panels are pressed against each other, the elements of the box connect. The technology behind this is a lining made of a special type of piezoelectric polymer at the edges of the panels, and a different one for the electricity supply on the inside. The integrated active RFID chip enables safe shipping of the package to anywhere in the world.
