TACKED
Matthias Brettschneider

The land available for food production is decreasing, while the world's population is increasing. People will have to ensure that less food is thrown away. People will handle food more seriously, thereby demanding more information about it's condition. The user of Tacked will be able to see the condition of his food while it is still in the fridge. The user shoots tacks in the packaging. These tacks change color as a special sensor coating reacts to gases of decay. The user is now able to see the level of freshness directly by looking at the food's packaging. E.g. red shows that the food is bad, and yellow indicates that it should be consumed soon. The tacks can only be used once and come in a pack of ten to make refilling easy.
