THE AWARDS
Bayer MaterialScience intends to support different kinds of concepts with the VisionWorks Award: Such whose implementation lies in the far future, as well as such whose marketability already seems realistic today. Thus, the company features awards in both categories: VISION and WORKS. In both cases, the first prize is endowed with 1,500 Euros and the second with 750 Euros. Bayer MaterialScience will present nominated as well as additionally selected designs to the public and further support them in case of respective market interest.

THE BENEFIT
The VisionWorks Award at its core offers the participants a broad range of support and promotion. An extraordinarily high prize money is intentionally avoided. Instead,

Bayer MaterialScience grants the schools the means to finance the required travels, the manufacturing and shipping of the models. To kick off the competition, the contestants and their supervisors are invited to an information event at the company headquarters in Leverkusen. There, they can network and extensively inform themselves about the possibilities of polymer-based material technology. They learn about high performance plastics as materials that offer a multitude of design options and grant a high degree of design freedom.
The deliberate selection of European academies secures a wide variety of nations and educational backgrounds. The entries are assessed by a high-ranking jury and presented to the broad public - by publication in the press and the exhibition of selected works at the plastics trade fair "K 2007", where visitors from well over 100 nations are expected.
