The Köln International School of Design (KISD) is an institution of the University of Applied Sciences Cologne. Its claim is to continuously adapt the design education to the necessities of the living and working environments. The so called Cologne Model was initiated in 1991 and understands itself as a consequent advancement of the traditional design education. The KISD consistently emphasizes its universality and internationality. Not specialization, but holistic interdisciplinary design competence is the objective. Instead of working in traditional classes, students from different semesters cooperate in projects and seminars independently and in teams.
