The history of the academy which was founded in 1946 goes back to the 1885 established School of Decorative Arts. The academy consists of five departments, which are focused on architecture, design, graphics, the fine and applied arts, as well as a sixth whose emphasis lies on art history and aesthetics. By subdividing the area of product design into three studios a broad spectrum of the design education (with theoretical and practical orientation) is covered.
Prof. Jan Nemecek: "For students any opportunity to compare their abilities and compete with colleagues from other schools or countries is of great relevance. Such a comparison is always helpful – both to better position oneself in the respective field of expertise, or to grow in the professional sense."
