DELTO
KÖLN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF DESIGN
KRYSTIAN MAJEWSKI

Our cities are growing. In the future many places will not be able to absorb the traffic with their infrastructure. The DELTO wall climber introduces new means of transportation and is supposed to serve as an alternative to the automobile. With its four feet it clings to specific interfaces attached on walls and climbs the buildings step by step.

The jury's verdict: "DELTO is an autonomous motion device which is for instance capable of climbing up and down skyscraper walls. A valuable change of paradigm which, even though not yet technically finalized, could offer a new concept for moving people and goods in future residential areas."

Award recipient Krystian Majewski: "Too many people in Germany underestimate the importance of design for a company and as a consequence miss out on important opportunities. In that context, competitions like the VisionWorks Award aim to surprise the observers, to challenge them and to provoke their thinking."
